The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's DWI Task Force rolled out a saturation patrol in Providence Division, meant to curb impaired driving and promote community safety, an initiative that seems to have paid some dividends. The patrol led to a total of 66 traffic stops, which resulted in 33 citations and also included two DWI arrests, as was shared in a social media update from the police department. It's a bid, it seems, to address a scourge that too often leaves families bereaved and futures derailed.
These targeted efforts, according to the department, are critical to public safety; they are strategic operations aimed at reducing the risk of driving under the influence-related accidents and, as shared in the department's statement, the recent operation in Providence was a part of that ongoing endeavor. The Facebook post by the CMPD praised the efforts of the DWI Task Force and the Providence Division officers and command staff for their work aimed at "reducing traffic fatalities and promoting safer communities."
