
Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Charlotte’s North Division. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reported that officers found a woman with a gunshot wound today. The incident took place in the 6100 block of Old Plank Road. Officers were dispatched around 12:26 a.m. following an Assist Medic call and found the victim, who was quickly transported to a hospital by MEDIC. She was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The victim’s name has not yet been released, pending notification of her family.
Detective Carter is leading the investigation into the shooting, with Crime Scene Search handling evidence collection at the scene. CMPD said that Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department, and MEDIC are also assisting in the investigation.
