In a notice posted by the City of Charlotte, there will not be residential curbside garbage, recycling, yard waste, and scheduled bulky waste collection on Thursday.
The altered schedule means to quickly accommodate those whose trash day falls on the holiday. Thursday customers will now receive service on Friday, and Friday customers are to find their bins emptied on Saturday. To check your collection day, the city provides an online resource called My Charlotte Lookup. By simply entering your address, you can confirm not only the day of the week your service occurs but also whether your recycling week is orange or green.
The city looks to even more directly inform residents about service updates. They have implemented a text alert system that provides collection updates, service disruptions, and waste preparation tips. "Residents who would like to receive updates can text their day of service to 73224," as noted in the City of Charlotte's announcement. For example, if your collection day is Thursday, all you need to do is text "Thursday" to 73224 to start receiving these notifications.
