Chicagoans may get to quickly glimpse the Northern Lights again tonight as conditions remain conducive for spotting the aurora borealis. The skies are expected to be mostly clear to partly cloudy with temperatures settling into a seasonably cold range of the low to mid 30s, FOX 32 Chicago reports. The potential sighting follows a mild day where the mercury hovered in the low to mid-50s throughout the area.
Looking forward, the weather is slated to be largely agreeable with the forecast indicating a sunny high near 62 on Friday and climbing temperatures, which are expected to hit the mid to possibly upper 60s by Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. While Saturday will see a shift towards mostly cloudy skies, rainfall is not anticipated, leaving room for both warmth and dry conditions.
The favorable weather, however, is predicted to take a cooler turn come Sunday. Despite the return of sunshine, colder air will push in, likely causing temperatures to settle near the 50-degree mark for the day's high, before dipping into the 40s during the day. This marks the beginning of a pattern that is expected to persist into early next week.
As the new workweek begins, residents can brace for typically colder temperatures with forecasts pointing to mid to upper 40s from Monday through Wednesday. While this period may also bring with it a chance to see some showers specifically around Tuesday and possibly Wednesday, the showers are not expected to cause any significant disruptions, "we aren't looking at a washout," FOX 32 Chicago suggests. A mostly sunny Monday with a chance of rain at night leads into a week that promises a mix of partly sunny and mostly cloudy days.
