Last Saturday, the City of Godley Fire Department celebrated its annual awards banquet dinner, an event that honored the dedicated firefighters for their service and achievements. The department gathered to acknowledge the hard work of its team members in the fiscal year 2024-2025, with various awards being handed out to several individuals who went above and beyond in their line of duty.
In a social media post from the City of Godley Fire Department, the community was given a glimpse into the festivities. "It was great to come together as a fire department family to fellowship and award these members with a token of our department's appreciation for all of their accomplishments and hard work in the 2024-2025 fiscal year," the post read. Highlighting the camaraderie within the department, the awards were described as a way to appreciate every member of the staff.
A number of individual recognitions were given, spotlighting the breadth of talent within the department. Among the recipients, Firefighter/EMT Matthew Ruffner was named Firefighter of the Year, celebrating his standout contributions. Captain Dustin Abbott received the Lead From the Front Award, while Firefighter/EMT Zach Wilkins and Firefighter/EMT Slade Esparza were both bestowed the title of Most Improved Firefighters.
