BATAVIA, OH—The Clermont County Public Defender's office is ready to unveil its newly renovated and expanded workspace. The community is invited to the official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 18, which marks the completion of a significant upgrade that more than doubles the office's capacity. According to an announcement from the county, the dedication event will kick off at 1:00 p.m. at 302 E. Main St., followed by a reception with light refreshments.
This extensive project adds 1,200 square feet to the existing structure, a move that has been met with a positive response from the current Public Defender, Stephen Haynes. In a statement obtained by the official Clermont County website, Haynes said, "The renovation and addition improve the appearance and usefulness of our main office." He also emphasized the direct benefits to the staff, noting, "We now have room for our appellate attorney, investigator, and social work department. None of them previously had offices in our building." The State of Ohio generously funded over 90 percent of this project’s costs.
The design and construction of this expansion were overseen by architect Greg Phillips with SMP Design and the contractor Kramer & Feldman Inc. The enhancement to the Public Defender’s office signifies not just a physical growth, but a commitment to the backbone of justice — ensuring that legal assistance is accessible and equitable for all members of the community, especially the indigent who often rely on the services of public defenders.
Those interested in attending can find more details on the event and the office expansion by visiting the Clermont County website. The announcement marks a forward step in reinforcing the judicial infrastructure in Clermont County and reaffirming Ohio's commitment to a fair legal system for its citizens. The Clermont County Public Defender's dedication event is open for all who wish to witness an instance of community progress in the sphere of public service and justice.
