On Thanksgiving Day in Phoenix, a 10-year-old girl was rescued from a mobile home that caught fire. FOX 10 Phoenix reported the fire occurred around 10:45 a.m. near 29th Avenue and Van Buren Street. Neighbors and bystanders helped remove the girl from the home, and she was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

The Phoenix Fire Department reported that the fire began spreading toward a neighboring mobile home before crews could contain it. The 10-year-old girl was asleep in her bed when the flames quickly approached her room. Rosario Ayala, a family member, said she had been preparing Thanksgiving meals and stepped outside briefly to retrieve food from an outdoor refrigerator, returning to find the girl trapped by flames at her bedroom door, according to Arizona’s Family.

Ayala ran outside calling for help and returned to the mobile home to reach the girl, who emerged crawling from the bedroom. Juan David Solano, working nearby, heard her cries and assisted in bringing the girl to safety. Solano told the outlet that a woman with the girl said she was in danger.

Phoenix Fire Department crews contained the fire to a single mobile home, preventing it from spreading further. The blaze left four people displaced. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The community has mobilized to assist the family, including a GoFundMe page to help cover medical expenses, clothing, food, and housing.
