Arthur Price, a 40-year-old convicted murderer already serving a 36-year sentence, has been handed down an additional 41 and a half years for the killing of fellow inmate Paul Hack at the Limon Correctional Facility, as reported by 9NEWS. The surveillance footage from August 17, 2023, shows Price dragging Hack's lifeless body down several staircases. Despite Hack being a convicted child molester, Price’s actions were not driven by a misguided sense of vigilante justice but apparently were an attempt to secure a transfer to another facility and to avoid repaying debts accumulated during his prison stay.
The District Attorney's office stated, "The victim was beaten, strangled, and dragged down three flights of stairs where his bloody, broken corpse was left for all to see," a chilling account KDVR detailed. Price's utterance, "That's what child molesters get, hope you rot in hell," was meant to seemingly justify his actions to the correctional officers who came to the scene. However, the prosecutors did not buy into this narrative, insisting instead that this was a calculated move meant to strategically alter his incarceration conditions.
In her statement, 23rd Judicial District Attorney Chief Deputy District Attorney Eva Wilson underscored the brutality of the crime, emphasizing that Price should remain behind bars until at least 2082, "if he lives that long." This sentiment was mirrored by the district attorney's office, as reported by Denver7, which confirmed Price's guilty plea to second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and abuse of a corpse.
