An 18-year-old man, Aiden Prause of Cypress, has been charged in the hit-and-run death of 77-year-old cyclist Fidel Estrada in Galveston. The crash occurred last Sunday when Estrada was hit by a white or silver pickup truck, possibly a Ford with a ladder in the bed. Estrada was taken to the hospital and later died. Witnesses said the driver did not stop and left the scene. Prause turned himself in on Friday and faces a second-degree felony charge for leaving the scene of a fatal collision. His bond was set at $100,000, as per ABC13.
Earlier this year, Prause and another individual were arrested for allegedly breaking into a water purification plant in Cypress, causing thousands of dollars in damage. Galveston County Jail records confirmed that Prause posted bond and was released at 4 p.m. on Friday.
Following Prause's arrest, the family of the deceased Estrada spoke about their loss. They said they are "heartbroken by the loss of their loved one and demanding justice" after the events of last Sunday, as reported by Click2Houston.
