
A K Street confrontation turned violent early Tuesday morning when a man was assaulted after refusing to give money to another individual. The incident occurred in the 500 block of K Street, Northwest, where the assailant, upon being denied money, attacked the victim with a glass bottle. Luckily, the victim sustained only minor injuries which were treated on the scene. according to the Metropolitan Police Department, the ordeal unfolded at around 3:47 a.m.
Law enforcement promptly responded to the incident. Diamonte Lucas, a 26-year-old Northwest D.C. resident, was arrested yesterday and has been charged with Assault with Significant Bodily Injury and Threats to Kidnap or Injure. Riding away from the scene on a bicycle, the suspect was identified. It remains unclear if the victim knew the attacker prior to the assault.
The arrest quickly ended the search for the suspect. Investigators are continuing to look into Lucas’s motives beyond his initial demand for money. The case is set to move forward in the coming weeks, with more details expected to emerge during court proceedings.
