Dallas residents can expect a variation of weather patterns this Thanksgiving, as sunny skies will soon give way to showers and possible thunderstorms by the weekend. According to the National Weather Service, Thanksgiving Day will be sunny with a comfortable high near 60 degrees, followed by a calm evening as temperatures drop to around 40.
However, as Friday approaches, the forecast indicates an increase in cloud coverage with a high of about 58 degrees and winds from the south-southeast reaching 5 to 10 mph, gusting up to 20 mph. These conditions seem primed to usher in wetter weather, the calm before the proverbial storm, if we may. The shift begins Friday night, with a considerable 90% chance of precipitation, and potential rainfall amounts spanning a quarter to half an inch, as detailed in a recent report by the weather service.
Moving into the weekend, the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms persists on Saturday, with a substantial chance of precipitation at 70%. Temperatures are expected to climb to a high near 69, accompanied by robust south southeast winds transitioning to northwest by the afternoon. These winds could see gusts as high as 25 mph, potentially leading to a brisk and blustery evening as the chances of rain taper off.
The brisk air continues into Sunday, bringing mostly sunny skies and a high near 44 degrees. North winds will maintain their presence, blowing at 10 to 15 mph and could gust as high as 20 mph, again setting the stage for a chilly evening as temperatures dip to around 33. Those hoping for clearer skies may find solace in the forecast for the beginning of next week, with only a slight chance of showers on Monday and then a sunny Tuesday projected. Highs are expected to linger in the mid to upper 40s before climbing back to a more comfortable 57 by Wednesday.
