New Yorkers might think they've seen it all, but the city's famously audacious rat population continues to surprise even the most seasoned residents. In recent separate incidents, rats were observed hitching rides on vehicles traveling both to LaGuardia Airport and all the way to an upstate New York wedding. These rats seemed to have momentarily abandoned the subterranean shadows for a taste of the above-ground world, much to the shock and amusement of their human co-travelers.
In one account shared by ABC7NY, two women were en route to LaGuardia Airport on Nov 11 when a rat emerged from under the hood of their car. The video captured by these women shows them screaming in disbelief as the rodent made an unexpected cameo. As they turned a corner, the rat was to have ultimately fallen off, but not before they jokingly speculated that it "must have heard Queens has better cheese."
Another New Yorker found himself unintentionally transporting a rat from Brooklyn to the Catskills. Film producer Kevin Coop nearly completed his journey to a wedding when the uninvited guest appeared on his windshield. In a state of astonishment, Coop managed to capture the moment on video and humorously reacted, not with fear, but with a concern for his vehicle as he told the rat, "Just don't eat my wires!” as reported by New York Post.
