In response to recent heavy rainfall, the City of Davis has announced the temporary closure of all fields and the community pump track due to poor conditions and the likelihood of additional inclement weather. According to the city's announcement yesterday, flooding has rendered these recreational areas unusable and potentially hazardous. The only exception is the Playfields Synthetic Soccer Field, which will remain open thanks to its artificial surface that allows it to withstand the effects of the storm.
City officials have scheduled today to re-evaluate field conditions, but until then, they are urging residents to comply with the closures for their own safety. To prevent misuse of the saturated grounds, the city has reminded the public that all fields are closed, whether or not signage is posted, and violations will be subject to enforcement.
In instances where individuals ignore closure notices, authorities have requested that residents contact the Police Department via the non-emergency line at (530) 747-5400.
