DeKalb County is continuing work to improve its water infrastructure, with a second virtual community meeting planned for the Panola Road Water Main Replacement Project. According to the county’s announcement, the meeting was scheduled for last Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom. Residents who were unable to attend the first meeting this month can access the same information during this upcoming session.

The project began on October 13 and covers approximately 11,400 linear feet, involving the replacement of ductile iron water pipes. Work is divided into two phases: Phase I covers the area from Salem Road east to Big Miller Road, then north to Panola Road, ending at Minola Drive/Fairington Road. Phase II begins at Snapfinger, continues northeast along Panola Road including Twin Lakes Drive, and concludes at Salem Road. Phase I is scheduled to last approximately 11 months, ending around September 2026, while Phase II is expected to take about 10 months, from January to October 2026, depending on weather conditions.

The project is part of DeKalb County’s $4.27 billion Capital Improvement Program, aimed at strengthening the county’s water infrastructure. Construction is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, with major holidays excluded.

Residents and business owners can obtain project information by calling the DWM Project Information Line at 1-800-986-1108 or emailing [email protected]. County staff are available to answer questions and provide project details.
