A blanket of dense fog enveloped Middle Tennessee early this morning, causing the National Weather Service in Nashville to extend a Dense Fog Advisory until 9:00 a.m. CST, according to their latest weather update. Drivers were urged to exercise caution as the visibility in some areas dropped to a quarter mile or less; the advisory covered a wide swath from Stewart County to Giles, including major cities like Nashville and Clarksville.
The fog, which was described as "widespread dense" in the early hours, is expected to lift gradually following 9:00 a.m., though the skies are to remain cloudy until mid-morning before clearing up to reveal warmer temperatures, with highs forecasted to be near 72 degrees, calm wind that should swing southwest around 5 mph, the National Weather Service reported. The evening might, however, bring a chance of showers between 10:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m., giving way to a partly cloudy sky and lower temperatures around 43 degrees, with winds shifting west northwest at a speed of 5 to 10 mph.
As the weekend continues, Sunday's forecast anticipates a chance of sprinkles after 1:00 p.m. with mostly cloudy conditions and high temperatures dropping to near 51 degrees. Gusty northwest winds will be present, possibly reaching speeds as high as 25 mph, as noted by the National Weather Service. The following night may see a mix of sprinkles and flurries before getting clearer and colder with a low around 27. Heading into Veterans Day, conditions appear more favorable with a sunny outlook and highs expected to rise near 52 degrees, accompanied by south-southwest winds picking up the pace in the afternoon.
For those planning later in the week, forecasts suggest a string of sunny days beginning Wednesday onwards, with high temperatures easing into the mid-60s and overnight lows hovering in the low 40s, while Veterans Day should be bright and clear as the south southwest wind strengthens, it's expected to accelerate from 5 to 10 mph in the morning to 10-15 mph in the afternoon, winds could peak at gusts of 25 mph. The National Weather Service advises residents to enjoy the favourable weather conditions but to keep in mind the potential for gusty winds, especially for those partaking in outdoor activities.
