In a move striking a severe blow to the Denver Broncos' offensive lineup, RB J.K. Dobbins will undergo season-ending surgery on a ligament tear in his foot, according to NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. After a consultative journey with multiple experts, Dobbins decided to go under the knife, effectively shutting down his first season with the Broncos.
Seemingly undeterred by the gravity of his injury sustained during last week's gritty 10-7 win over the Raiders, Dobbins believed he would recover swiftly, having told ESPN that he hoped to secure a positive outlook from the medical staff. The Broncos had no choice but to adapt to his loss as coach Sean Payton hinted at a stint on injured reserve, which came to pass soon after the ill-fated prognosis.
The team, already contending with a series of setbacks, confirmed Dobbins' placement on injured reserve. The Broncos will confront their next challenge, an upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs, with a depleted roster. Not only will they be missing Dobbins' on-field prowess, but as Denver7 reports, several other key starters are sidelined with injuries, including star cornerback Pat Surtain II and tight end Nate Adkins.
