Travelers in the Destrehan area are facing a series of road closures that could impact daily commutes and travel plans. A notification posted on the St. Charles Parish website informs residents that Jonathan Street is shut down indefinitely for through traffic, though emergency vehicles can utilize Bunge’s heavy haul road as an alternative route.
Additionally, Ormond Center Court faces restrictions due to ongoing construction work that blocks passage from 150 Ormond Center Court to 3001 Ormond Blvd; detour signs are guiding motorists to navigate around the area, though it's expected these interruptions might cause some delays and lighting issues should motorists rely on their own navigation devices, which might not be updated with the most current detour information.
More extensive projects are underway on LA 628 (CC Road), where roadwork commenced on October 24 and is anticipated to continue until November 21, according to St. Charles Parish updates. The full closure affects both the northbound and southbound lanes, stretching from the Southern Railroad Crossing to the US 61 (Airline Dr). This construction is part of the Montz Pump Station Permit Project and necessitates a continuous closure for nearly a month, with specific detour routes including US 61, LA 3217, or LA 628 (River Rd).
Another hit to local traffic comes with the closure of both westbound and eastbound lanes of LA 18 (River Rd), from just west of the LA 3142 intersection to the junction itself starting November 10 through November 21; closures occurring each day from 8 AM to 4:30 PM due to the installation of an overhead pipe bridge, detouring drivers will have to make use of alternative roads like LA 3127 or US 90 with detour signage meant to assist drivers, however, the frequent changes can pose challenges for those unaccustomed to the detour routes and reliance on real-time traffic alerts is advised for an easier commuting experience.
