The Canadian Pacific Kansas City Holiday Train passed through Detroit on Saturday. The train, decorated with festive lights, paused briefly at Michigan Central Station but made no stops in Michigan. The train traveled through Southwest Detroit after a Windsor event, following a route along I-94 before continuing toward Ohio, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit.
The ornately lit Canadian Pacific Kansas City train stopped at Michigan Central Station for about 40 minutes, during which time spectators could view the train’s details, as per Detroit Free Press. The pause was partly due to a required customs inspection. The train was expected to continue through Metro Detroit from Windsor, Ontario, to Illinois between November 22 and November 23.
Since 1999, the annual Canadian Pacific Kansas City Holiday Train has raised funds and collected food for community banks. According to ClickOnDetroit, the initiative has raised over $26 million and collected about 5.4 million pounds of food. CPKC President and CEO Keith Creel said he is proud of the program. The train continues to travel across the country during the holiday season.
