Community gathered this Saturday at Impacto Comunitario in District 5 for a food drive that turned out to be a resounding success. Residents from all walks of life came together to donate nonperishable food items, essential goods, and pet supplies to help restock Pastora Liliana Padilla's food pantry, as reported by the City of San Antonio.
According to a statement obtained by the City of San Antonio, Councilmember Teri Castillo lauded the community's efforts, saying, "Our community continues to show up for one another." She pointed to "rising costs and ongoing uncertainty for many families," and how the community's donations "make a real difference." The event managed to fully restock and even to expand the pantry's capacity as the holiday season approaches.
Pastora Liliana Padilla shared her gratitude and extended a "heartfelt thank you" to everyone involved. Even though the food drive is over, District 5 reminds everyone that donations don’t have to stop. People can drop off nonperishable food and pet food at Impacto Comunitario all year long to keep helping local families. This effort makes community support a steady source of help, not just a one-time event, for those facing food insecurity in District 5, as per the City of San Antonio.
