Early this morning in Baltimore, tragedy unfolded as police stumbled upon a double homicide following a car crash. FOX Baltimore reported that around 6:54 a.m., Central District patrol officers responded to the 1000 block of East Monument Street after a shooting was reported. Upon their arrival, they found two individuals, an unidentified man and a 28-year-old woman, involved in a crash on the 700 block of Ensor Street, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite initial confusion, it was clarified by an MTA spokesperson that an MTA bus, originally thought to have been a part of the crash, was indeed not involved. The statement reported by WMAR2-News emphasized, "An MTA bus was in the vicinity of the shooting incident but was NOT involved in any accident with a Johns Hopkins University shuttle today." Medics who arrived at the scene of the Ensor Street crash promptly transported both victims to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The investigation has been classified as a homicide, though police have not specified whether the victims died as a result of the gunshot injuries or the crash itself. In the aftermath of the incident, police are calling on the public for assistance. Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact homicide detectives at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-666-7LOCKUP.
