Early this morning, a blaze in Las Vegas’s East Valley displaced 10 individuals, affecting seven adults and three children. As reported by News3LV, the Clark County Fire Department rushed to the 4300 block of Cy Cliffview Circle near East Vegas Valley Drive and South Lamb Boulevard, following reports of a fire that started at approximately 7:33 a.m. The Clark County Deputy Fire Chief Wayne L. Dailey confirmed that the fire originated from a tree and extended to a two-story residential structure.
Upon arrival, crews faced flames in the back and attic space of the building and swiftly executed an offensive attack to subdue the fiery onslaught. A second alarm was called to garner additional firefighting personnel. In total, 64 responders attended the scene to control the situation, which was declared extinguished by 7:46 a.m., as per FOX5 Vegas. No injuries have been reported, and the American Red Cross has been requested to assist those who were displaced by this unforeseen event.
Residents caught in midst of the emergency recounted the chaos. A local who lived in the apartment told 8 News Now that he and his mother smelled smoke while preparing for work, just before a neighbor warned them of the fire. Further investigations into the cause of the inferno are ongoing. A battalion chief mentioned to 8 News Now that upon initial assessment, they believed the fire began outside and escalated rapidly after reaching the gas meters.
With losses estimated between $100,000 and $250,000, the displaced residents face an unexpected hurdle as the holiday season approaches. The Red Cross of Southern Nevada has stepped in to provide relief and support in the aftermath. While the cause of the fire remains under scrutiny, the Clark County Fire Department has yet to determine if working smoke detectors were installed within the building, a crucial detail that remains unanswered as arson investigators have been called to the scene, confirming reports from both News3LV and 8 News Now.
