Bexar County deputies are urgently searching for 16-year-old Chyanne Stowers after relatives say she slipped out of her home without permission on Friday. She was last seen in the San Antonio area wearing pink Cookie Monster pajama bottoms and a pink shirt, and family members and deputies have been chasing down every lead since.
According to KENS5, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office issued a missing-person alert that included Stowers' photo and a description of what she was wearing. Investigators believe she had been communicating online with an unknown boy who may live on the east side of San Antonio. The photo being circulated in local coverage was provided by the sheriff's office.
How To Help
Per the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, anyone with information is urged to call the department at (210) 335-6000 or email the Missing Persons Unit at [email protected]. The county also lists a direct line for the Missing Persons Unit at (210) 335-6078 for tips and case intake.
BCSO's Missing‑Persons Effort
The sheriff's office has expanded its missing-persons team to address a rising number of cases, adding investigators and support staff to improve search efforts and speed up case intake, as noted by San Antonio Report. Deputies say having a dedicated unit and quicker processing can be crucial when children are involved, since those first hours can make all the difference.
Legal Consequences
BCSO has also reminded the public that anyone who harbors or hides a missing teen could face criminal charges, local reporting notes. Under state law, harboring a runaway child is a Class A misdemeanor under Justia, a statute that can bring jail time and fines.
Anyone who might have seen Stowers or has information about where she is is asked to contact the sheriff's office using the numbers above. Deputies are encouraging neighbors and residents to check doorbell cameras, social media, and any other potential clues, and to report tips immediately.
