The El Paso Community College's literary and arts magazine Chrysalis recently celebrated the release of its 2025 edition with a release party on October 24. As a platform amplifying the voices from the borderland community, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and residents, the magazine has become a fixture in the El Paso/Ciudad Juárez/Las Cruces area.
Anchoring the heart of this publication is a commitment to the arts and literature, as it showcases a range of works from fiction to poetry. The recent edition features a culmination of earnest efforts from a diverse editorial team, helmed by Managing Editor Charissa Wong and various other editors tasked with the sections of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, Spanish language, and submissions. The Chrysalis is a testament to the local culture and spirit, with each page echoing the vibrancy of its contributors.
In a release highlighted on the college's website, Minerva Laveaga Luna, Chrysalis Faculty Advisor, expressed the importance of the magazine to the region's cultural fabric. “The magazine not only reflects the creative talent of our community but also strengthens community belonging, cultural connection, and the development of future literary and artistic leaders in our region," Laveaga Luna told EPCC News.
