Last Friday, the Elk Grove Police Department in collaboration with Sacramento law enforcement executed a high-stakes raid. Their social media post details an operation that spanned two homes—one in Elk Grove and one in Sacramento—targeting an individual accused of illegal firearms possession. The suspect, named Anthony Aguilar, was allegedly holding more than just firearms in his residence.
The array of confiscated items reads like a shopping list for unlawful activity. Authorities seized two pistols, a massive stash of over 61 pounds of marijuana, 630 THC vape cartridges, upwards of $48,000 in cash, illegal fireworks, and the truly concerning find—home made explosives. The decision to utilize both the Elk Grove and Sacramento SWAT teams appears to have been prescient. In their effort to "keep Elk Grove safe," which they vowed to do "each and every day," the teams managed to swiftly put Aguilar into custody without public incident, according to the Elk Grove Police Department.
The operation highlights strong inter-agency cooperation. Elk Grove Police recognized the roles of the Sacramento Police Department SWAT team and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office EOD team.
