An 80-year-old Elk Grove woman succumbed to her injuries after a hit-and-run incident last month, and local authorities have now identified a suspect. The Elk Grove Police Department shared in a social media post that the collision happened on October 10, when Ngub Chan was hit by a car while crossing an intersection in a residential area.
Detectives have since undertaken substantial steps to swiftly apprehend the individual responsible. The victim, after having been in and out of the hospital, passed away due to complications from her injuries last Friday, according to the announcement. Surveillance footage captured the accident and, following a persistent investigation, led to the suspect's vehicle being located and the driver—now identified as a 57-year-old Elk Grove man—being contacted while driving in Sacramento.
