Expect delays and detours for the first two weeks of December as the county's Public Works Department swings into action. According to a traffic advisory, there will be temporary lane closures from next Thursday, Dec. 4, through Dec. 11, due to tree trimming activities and mulching being dispersed in road medians.
The necessary work is scheduled across various locations, promising a mix of idle time spent in traffic and detour-journeys, for commuters. Some of the affected routes include a portion of U.S. 41, from Sarasota County Line to Enterprise Drive, Toledo Blade Blvd to Hillsborough Blvd, and Murdock Circle, spanning S.R. 776 to U.S. 41, from next Thursday, Dec. 4, through Dec. 11.
Additional work areas include Edgewater Blvd from Harbor Blvd to Midway Blvd and Midway Blvd from Harbor Blvd to Elkcam Blvd set for Dec. 8-11. Maintenance schedules are penned in for the daylight hours between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., aiming to minimize impact during peak traffic flows.
The Public Works Department has put out a call for motorists to keep vigilant and proceed with utmost caution around any construction signals and personnel. For those seeking more details or have questions regarding the temporary inconveniences, the department has provided a point of contact, Chuck Peters, reachable at 941-575-3658, who no doubt, stands ready to field queries and convey information with patience and clarity.
