Following a late-night theft on Travis Boulevard, Fairfield police apprehended a wanted arson suspect after a dramatic RV standoff. The incident began last Thursday at 9:32 PM when officers were dispatched to a drug store following a theft report. According to a social media post from Fairfield, CA Police Department, two suspects were seen fleeing the scene in an RV.
Officer Balhotra, patrolling nearby, spotted the vehicle on Taft Street and performed a traffic stop. It was during this encounter that they discovered one of the suspects, identified as 25-year-old Jason Bonifacio, was wanted in connection with an arson. Wanting not to surrender, Bonifacio barricaded himself inside the RV, ignoring officers' commands to exit.
The Fairfield Police Department's Special Operations Team (SOT) was quick to arrive on the scene. Detectives assessed the situation and devised a tactical plan to apprehend the suspect safely. Their strategy included breaching the RV's door and window to prompt Bonifacio to exit the vehicle.
After breaching one of the RV's windows, Bonifacio decided to surrender, according to the Fairfield Police Department. The tactical move seemed to have worked, as Bonifacio was detained without causing further incident. The second suspect's details were not disclosed, but he was also taken into custody following the standoff.
