A routine traffic stop turned into an electrifying chase in Fairfield last week. Last Tuesday, the Fairfield Police Department reported that Officer Ray initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of East Tabor and San Salvador at approximately 11:43 PM for an unidentified traffic violation. The situation escalated when the 19-year-old driver discovered a search of the vehicle was imminent, resulting in his resistance and the subsequent pursuit by law enforcement.

The vehicle, which contained five occupants, became the focus of Officer Ray's investigation. The Fairfield Police Department provided a detailed account of the events leading up to the chase. After placing spikes before the car to prevent escape, the driver's attempt to flee was thwarted. Despite this, "the driver pulled away and started the vehicle - backing it up with the door still open and striking another officer as she stood in the frame of the door," the Fairfield Police shared on social media. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

The ensuing pursuit ended on Sales Drive, where the driver and his crew made a break for it on foot across the Suisun Valley fields. With air support from the California Highway Patrol, each suspect was tracked down and apprehended. These individuals now face an array of charges, including weapons violations, assault, and resisting arrest, as a loaded firearm with an extended magazine was found in the back seat of their vehicle.

All five suspects were booked into Solano County Jail, with the Fairfield Police Department ensuring that every one of them was taken into custody.
