Tragedy struck Baldwin Park on Monday when a domestic crisis escalated to a double homicide and the critical injury of a 10-year-old child, with the suspected assailant, a 35-year-old man, subsequently found dead in an apparent suicide, according to officials from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department who responded to a distressing scene at a residence on the 12700 block of Royston Street, precisely before the dawn of the day around 5:00 a.m., where they discovered a horrifying tableau featuring the lifeless bodies of 61-year-old Yulan Wang and her husband Qiufu Jiang, victims of gunshot wounds, the shooter having turned the weapon on himself could not evade the lingering specter of his vile act, his body was discovered in Anaheim, bringing a harrowing chapter to a close.
Upon the police's arrival, instigated by a report of a suspicious individual and potential fatalities at the Royston Street home, they were met by three unharmed "surviving victims" who relayed the calamity within, prompting the officers to locate two deceased adults and the gravely wounded young girl; KTLA reports these two adult fatalities as Yulan Wang and Qiufu Jiang, the child's condition remains critical.
The investigation swiftly identified Qihao Jin as the prime suspect, unearthing the motive behind the bloodshed to be familial discord, as he targeted the home of his estranged wife's relatives, who, in a cruel twist of fate, were not present, leading to the question of what drives a soul to such darkness, the authorities, however, attempting to answer not existential queries but criminal ones, found Jin deceased within his vehicle located the night of the incident on Vermont Street in Anaheim, a detail confirmed by ABC7.
The Baldwin Park Police Department extended thanks through a Facebook post to their colleagues at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Anaheim Police Department, San Gabriel Police Department, and other partner agencies for their support during the investigation.
