Mark your calendars for some festive revelry in the Town of Farragut, where the annual Countdown to Light the Park will commence at 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 24. The evening promises to spark the holiday spirit with the grand lighting of the park's display set for 6:45 p.m. at Founders Park at Campbell Station. According to the Town of Farragut's announcement, attendees can expect a lineup filled with performances, games, and the time-honored visit from Santa himself, precursory to the illumination.
The event, emceed by WVLT's Whitney Kent, will showcase the talents of the Farragut High School choral department, the Meredith Laing Trio, the Spectra Twirlers, and musician Andrew Witherspoon. For the kids in attendance, crafts and a mailbox for Santa letters, which need to be posted by Dec. 17 to ensure a return letter, include a return address, adding to the excitement. As the anticipation for the lights to glimmer builds, the rhythms of the Farragut High School drumline will signal Santa's entrance, uniting the past with that timeless holiday wonder.
Parking should not be a concern, with ample space available at nearby locations, including the Westgate Christian Fellowship and local churches. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand, offering assistance for those needing to traverse Campbell Station Road. More connectivity comes in the form of the Campbell Station Skate that brings a synthetic ice rink to life from Nov. 22 to Jan. 4 at the Mayor Ralph McGill Plaza—a hub for winter joy accessible with reservations at visitfarragut.org/events.
This year's enchanting addition is the Holiday Tree Village. Local entities have the opportunity to exhibit their seasonal creativity by decorating evergreens behind the Campbell Station Inn. The verdant display will run alongside the park festivities through Jan. 1, adding another layer to the town's spirited decorations.
Festivities do not simply conclude with a countdown; Light the Park will continue to shine each evening from dusk starting Tuesday, Nov. 25, until Thursday, Jan. 1. Along with the glimmering lights, visitors can experience various entertainers and vendors, with food trucks stationed at Founders Park up until Dec. 23. A full calendar of the scheduled events and entertainment can be found on the Town of Farragut's website, inviting residents and visitors alike to partake in the month-long holiday cheer.
