A tragic incident occurred on Thanksgiving afternoon when a fuel tanker crashed on Yale Avenue at Interstate 25 in Denver, resulting in the death of the driver, according to 9News. Denver Police have reported that the vehicle was the only one involved in the crash, which took place around 12:45 p.m.

The aftermath of the crash saw a significant amount of fuel spilling onto the road, necessitating the closure of Yale Avenue in both directions at I-25, but the road has since reopened. KKTV indicates that firefighters were dispatched to the scene to contain any potential environmental damage by damming nearby gutters and storm drains, preventing the fuel from entering waterways. Contrary to an initial report by 9News, services on the E Line were not impacted due to the spill.

CBS News Colorado provided an eyewitness account from Yosef Adler, who recorded the incident on his dash camera, "I saw the truck just start coming out of the right side, coming off the highway and then you hear this 'bang' and he hit, took the light down. and then he went over the median in the center, took that light down and then he just plowed straight into the bridge for the train," Adler described.

Residents in the vicinity were startled by the incident, with resident Mattie Bicknell telling CBS News Colorado, "That was a concussion that moved things off of the wall. So it was most definitely something happened." He noted the pervasive smell of fuel that filled the area following the crash. Despite the severity of the crash and the subsequent fuel spill, fortunately there were no reports of ensuing fires or further injuries.
