A fatal accident happened last Saturday in Seattle’s industrial area near the Duwamish Waterway. A person fell from an elevated position onto a barge and died from their injuries. KOMO News reports that Seattle Fire Department crews responded to the 600 block of S. Riverside Dr in South Park, where the call shifted from a rope rescue to a recovery after the person was confirmed dead.
A post on X first reported the situation at about 2 p.m. on last Saturday. Emergency crews responded to the scene and began rescue efforts, but according to FOX 13 Seattle, the operation soon shifted to a recovery after it became clear the person did not survive the fall.
A person died after falling onto a barge near South Riverside Drive. Emergency crews arrived shortly before 2 p.m. and found the person dead. Officials have not released the victim’s identity or explained what led to the fall, and the investigation is still ongoing, as per KIRO 7.
