An early-morning crash in Long Beach has resulted in the death of a driver, following what appears to have been a tragic vehicular collision, KTLA reports. Around 4:35 a.m. on Tuesday, two cars were involved in an accident at the intersection of 10th Street and Orange Avenue. A vehicle attempting to make a U-turn was struck by another car, leading to one fatality.

The chain of events began when a driver, now known to have been behind the wheel of a black 2000 Honda Accord, tried to quickly make a U-turn from the south curb. In doing so, their vehicle was hit on the driver's side by an eastbound black 2023 Nissan Rogue. According to the Long Beach Police Department, they were dispatched to the scene following reports of the collision.

Emergency services found the driver of the Honda Accord unconscious upon arrival. After being transported to a local hospital, the individual was pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan Rogue remained on scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Distractions or the influence of substances are not suspected to have played a role in the incident.

The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending the notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. As the investigation continues, Long Beach Police are urging witnesses or those with information to come forward to assist in piecing together the circumstances that led to this fatal outcome.
