Early morning traffic in DeSoto was brought to a standstill following a fatal traffic accident that unfolded on the 1400 block of North IH-35E. DeSoto Police Department reported that the tragic sequence of events began around 2:30 a.m. when a 26-year-old man from Wilmer lost control of his vehicle, causing his van to overturn.
After the van came to rest on its side on the highway, the young man managed to extract himself from the wreckage, only to be struck by an oncoming vehicle as he stood on the highway. Following this, a cascade of collisions ensued involving two additional vehicles. The police extend their condolences to the victim's family and provide thoughts for the two women who were seriously injured in the subsequent impacts.
Southbound lanes of IH-35E were closed for several hours as authorities addressed the situation. Emergency services rushed the two women with life-threatening injuries to a local hospital. Their current condition remains undisclosed.
