A tragic event unfolded on Tuesday morning along the 1800 block of Eastway Dr. when a multi-vehicle crash led to the death of 25-year-old Jackie Prophet Jr., according to a statement provided by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. CMPD's Major Crash Investigation Unit reports that the collision occurred at approximately 11:28 a.m., involving four vehicles, one of which sustained heavy front-end damage.
Arriving at the scene, first responders found Prophet unresponsive in his Honda CR-Z. The MEDIC team pronouncing him deceased at the scene, the sadness of the moment was felt even by those who were unharmed in the remaining three vehicles. The drivers of these vehicles were screened for impairment and found to be sober. However, the CMPD has stated that "impairment is unknown for Mr. Prophet pending the toxicology report."
