A grim turn of events unfolded in the Bronx as a father, his son, and a teenager have been charged with murder for an alleged retaliatory shooting that took a tragic turn, claiming the life of an innocent man. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced the indictment of Norman Moore, 64, Devonte Moore, 24, and a 16-year-old boy on charges including second-degree murder, related to the fatal shooting of Fareed Adeyi. In a statement, Clark emphasized, "The defendants sought revenge after one of them got into a shootout with a man in August. They allegedly hunted for the man, found his car, and opened fire. The man they killed was not their intended target," according to the Bronx District Attorney's Office.

The tragic mix-up occurred after the alleged August altercation involving Devonte Moore, who is said to have shot at a man who then returned fire and critically wounded him. Devonte Moore was previously indicted on attempted murder, among other charges, in that incident. The targeted man was mistakenly identified as the victim because of his car, a Volkswagen Passat formerly owned by the individual from the August shooting, which had been recently sold to Adeyi. Surveillance footage revealed the commission of the crime where Adeyi was shot in his torso and right thigh and then died, all caught shooting multiple times into the Passat.

Officials state that on October 7, Norman Moore allegedly drove his son and the 16-year-old to the scene of the crime at 3254 White Plains Road. The indictment further details the events, claiming that Norman Moore was arraigned on November 18, 2025, and his son's arraignment is expected to occur at a later date, while the 16-year-old was arraigned on November 5. Norman Moore faces charges including second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter.

The Bronx District Attorney's Office credited their case team, including Senior Homicide Counsel Morgan Dolan, as well as the NYPD detectives, for their diligent work on the investigation. "This was a senseless murder," Clark stated, pointing to the devastating consequence of the suspect's actions. Acknowledging their efforts, District Attorney Clark thanked NYPD Detectives Rashawn Merrick and Michael Simpson of the 47th Precinct, and Detective Kyle Keiser of Bronx Homicide Squad.
