
Downtown San Antonio will host a series of holiday events, beginning with the H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting at Travis Park on November 28. The event will include live entertainment, food, and the lighting of the tree at 6 p.m. Visitors can receive a complimentary VIA Metropolitan Transit ride by informing drivers that they are attending the tree lighting, according to the city’s announcement.
Downtown San Antonio locations including the River Walk, Travis Park, and La Villita will host a variety of holiday events. Holiday Hills Christmas Trees will offer fresh-cut trees for sale through December 23. Tomorrow, the Neon Dance Party will feature 1980s music and bubbles. Pet owners can attend the Blessing of the Animals at Market Square on November 30, which will include blessings and a pet-owner look-alike contest.
Market Square will host weekend events featuring live performances, local food, and artists, offering opportunities to explore downtown San Antonio’s cultural scene. “Holidays on Houston Street” will continue downtown traditions with events including A Taste of Holidays on Houston Street on December 6 and a holiday market from December 12–14, as per the City of San Antonio.
The City of San Antonio advises visitors to plan ahead for crowds on busy event days such as November 28. Public transportation, rideshares, biking, or walking are recommended to avoid congestion. Drivers can use Google Maps or Waze to navigate downtown traffic. The SAPark website provides information on parking options, including garages and lots, with event-specific rates up to $15. Free parking is available on Downtown Tuesdays and City Tower Sundays.
