Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced the indictment of five individuals alleged to be members of the Brooklyn-based Street Knights Motorcycle Club. They face a 52-count indictment that includes charges of attempted murder, assault, and weapons possession in connection with a shooting in East Flatbush last spring. According to the Brooklyn DA’s office, the incident occurred on a busy street, where 44 shots were fired, injuring three people and prompting bystanders to seek cover.
Those arraigned are identified as Ricardo Johnson, 51, of Sicklerville, New Jersey; Akeem McDonald, 37, of Huntington Station, Long Island; Saanshuray Bobbitt, 43, of Jamaica, Queens; Raheem Watson, 41, of Cypress Hills, Brooklyn; and Melsone Gasby, 47, of Deer Park, Long Island. Brooklyn DA’s office stated that weapons, including an assault rifle, were recovered in connection with the arrests. Johnson is awaiting extradition, while Bobbitt, McDonald, and Watson are being held without bail. Gasby’s bail was set at $200,000 in cash or a $400,000 bond.
The indictment indicates that the incident occurred following a confrontation with the Hood Ryderz Motorcycle Club near a Street Knights anniversary event. It alleges that Watson fired first, followed by Johnson, McDonald, and Bobbitt. Three people were injured, including a Hood Ryderz member who was shot in the leg while attempting to leave the scene.
The Brooklyn DA’s office report states that after the 35-year-old victim was shot, he attempted to crawl to safety but encountered Gasby, president of the Street Knights, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. The victim was hospitalized with a fractured tibia and ongoing difficulty walking without assistance. The second victim, 29, was able to leave the scene on his motorcycle despite a gunshot wound to the leg, which caused permanent nerve damage.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez reported that the New York City Police Department assisted in the case, including the 67th Precinct Detective Squad and specialized units such as the Gun Violence Suppression Division and Auto Crimes Division. Personnel handling digital evidence, including Intelligence Analyst Timothy Brown and the Bureau of Litigation Technology, were also involved. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Robert Andrea and Adriana Morquecho, under the supervision of Assistant District Attorney Kin Ng, Bureau Chief of the Blue Zone Trial Bureau.
