The Osceola County Sheriff's Office has reported a successful round-up of five suspects linked to a bold and violent home invasion at a Davenport Airbnb earlier this month. The incident, which occurred on November 5, was defined by the exchange of gunfire after a group of armed men forced entry into the property, according to WESH.
A female juvenile victim recounted to law enforcement how the assailants, clad in black and ski masks, emerged from a vehicle brandishing various firearms and compelled her into the house at gunpoint. The suspects, she said, thereafter engaged in an altercation, taking her phone and keys. When the situation escalated, gunshots were traded, resulting in property damage but miraculously no physical injuries. Casings from pistols and rifles littered the scene, a home now pockmarked by bullet holes and featuring a shattered sliding glass door.
Swift action by local authorities led to the apprehension of two suspects, Devante Elijah Joseph, 21, and Markel Ja'Marion Bailey, 20, who were discovered near the crime scene and charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and armed robbery with a firearm. Within the following two weeks, with collaborative efforts from the Florida Highway Patrol and the Orange County Sheriff's Office, three more suspects were detained – Alvan Dimy Civil, 22, Jaiquan Darius Hill, 20, and Ronnall Lachasta Jr., 20, ClickOrlando reported.
As patrols have been intensified, the Sheriff also indicated that detectives are looking into the possibility that the apprehended individuals may be linked to other similar crimes in the area. While the investigation is proceeding, the victims have reportedly provided leads suggesting some level of acquaintance with the attackers.
