It's that time of year again when Historic Folsom becomes a hub of winter festivities, courtesy of the charming ice rink that opened its gates on November 8 and will keep its winter charm open through January 19. Skaters can now enjoy the picturesque, festive lights spread throughout the rink while surrounding firepits offer a reprieve from the chill. As reported on the City of Folsom's official site, the ice rink is a beacon of community gathering, with themed events and a buoyant party zone elevating the experience, making it a go-to seasonal escape for locals and visitors looking to embrace the holiday spirit.
For those eager to smoothly glide—or even quirkily stumble—across the icy expanse, they should consider securing tickets early, as some sessions are notorious for quickly selling out. According to Folsom Historic District Association, advance ticket purchases are recommended to guarantee a spot in your preferred skate session. One can look forward to weekly happenings, like the economically-priced $12 Tuesdays or the Saturday Skate School, which not only includes an early bird learning session but also the subsequent 10AM skate slot.
Teaching moments don't end there; Monday Skate Classes and the adorable Mommy & Me Skate offer perfect opportunities for bonding and learning on the ice. As the bouts of joy continue, the rink will also host themed days like the Glow with the Flow Neon Day and the Rodeo Round Up Day, ensuring every visit offers a unique spin on the ice. Special highlights during the festive month of November include sessions dedicated to commemorating Veteran’s Day and charitable initiatives, such as Donate & Skate supporting Powerhouse Ministries, where part of the admission fee is allocated to the ministry's charitable causes.
And let’s not forget that every great tradition includes a touch of giving back. With the November 18 Donate & Skate event, patrons can both enjoy skating and support a good cause, with $4 from each admission ticket donated directly to Powerhouse Ministries. Participants are also encouraged to bring a gift to contribute to the Christmas Around Town, as per the Folsom Historic District Association. To add to the festive calendar, attendees can cozy up in their pajamas for the Thanksgiving PJ Party, an event that promises to combine comfort with the joy of skating.
