The Folsom Zoo Sanctuary is bringing back its staple celebration of the festive season with "Wild Nights and Holiday Lights." As per the city's announcement, this event promises to bathe the zoo in the glow of thousands of shimmering lights and ornate displays, creating a winter wonderland for the 15th consecutive year.
The seasonal affair kicks off December 5 and will span select dates through December 22, setting the zoo aglow from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each evening. In what seems a scheduling oversight, however, the festivities are contingent on weather conditions, with heavy rains poised to cancel the event. Local musicians and caroling groups are set to provide live performances, aiming to enrich the atmosphere with festive melodies, while a miniature train, the Folsom Valley Railway, offers special nighttime rides through the twinkling sanctuary.
In terms of entry, event admission fares are strategically priced at $12.99 per person for the first hour and just a tad less at $11.99 for the subsequent two hours. Families with little ones will appreciate that children under the age of 2 can enjoy the event for free. And for the train enthusiasts or those just looking to rest their legs, train ride tickets can be snagged at $7 each.
