A former corrections officer at the Shelby County Division of Corrections in Memphis has been apprehended on federal contraband charges, according to U.S. Marshals. Tamillian Young, 24, is facing accusations of providing or possessing contraband items including cigarettes, tobacco, and marijuana in the penal facility, as reported by Action News 5.
The arrest was the culmination of an operation by the Memphis Safe Task Force in collaboration with the Division of Corrections Office of Professional Standards, details indicated by FOX13 Memphis; Young was detained at the facility where she had previously worked, which houses detainees overseen by the U.S. Marshals Service and yet during her arrest she was found to have various prohibited items on her person.
Local Memphis reported that federal court documents suggest the contraband seized from Young was not limited to recreational substances; approximately 18 oxycodone pills and around 112.5 grams of marijuana wrapped in duct tape were found with her during a routine search.
Young, during Mondays evening shift arrest, apparently admitted to involvement in a scheme with detainees and other individuals to smuggle contraband into the penal facility and had intentions to deliver the drugs found in her possession had she not been intercepted, this detail emerged in a statement provided in court documents.
