Fort Worth has officially begun the construction of a new gathering space for its residents. Dubbed Tilley Plaza, the area within Trinity Park will soon be home to a butterfly garden, a grove to celebrate local leader Phyllis Tilley, a communal harvest table, and a wildflower meadow, among other features. The groundbreaking ceremony took place last Friday and was a signal of the city's commitment to enhancing the green spaces available to community members.
Last week’s event saw city officials and community partners use shovels to ceremoniously start the project, a physical manifestation of the many hands that have come together to eventually beautify the western bank of the Trinity River. The hope is to not only provide a serene spot for relaxation and reflection but also to foster a deeper connection to the local environment and history through the space. The City of Fort Worth expects Tilley Plaza to significantly add to the aesthetic and social fabric of the area.
While no official completion date was announced during the groundbreaking, excitement for the plaza’s potential clearly resonated among those present.
