An upward trajectory in both airport operations and revenue has marked Fort Worth's aviation sector since the pandemic's shadow lifted, with a 7% annual rise in operations and a revenue boost that has soared to nearly double its pre-2020 levels.
Meacham International Airport is a hotspot for private capital flow, as it's slated to flex its infrastructure with 280,600 square feet of fresh hangar space spread over 19.8 acres. According to the City of Fort Worth, this expansion is expected to bring in $418,339 in annual revenue by fiscal 2028. Projects in progress include the revamp of Apron Bravo and Taxiway Golf alongside the creation of a new maintenance building and aesthetic enhancements in the airport's frontage.
Set for a bigger slice of the sky, Meacham's reach will extend upward with a new air traffic control tower, scaling 119 feet to overtake the existing 54-foot structure. This colossal project, set to wrap by late 2027, comes with a substantial $13 million price tag funded entirely by the FAA, courtesy of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
On another front, Spinks Airport is nurturing its growth with private investments covering an additional 5.7 acres, set to spawn 17 box hangars and 24 T-hangars that will generate revenue of $78,085 annually by FY2026. Significant developments recorded include a significant 36-acre property acquisition on the east side and further construction of taxi lanes earmarked for summer 2026 completion. Meanwhile, Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport is not one to lag, with its own slew of enhancements like taxiway extensions and essential runway repairs.
