The Missouri City Police Department confirmed the arrest of four Fort Bend ISD students in connection with the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man in a Walmart parking lot on Highway 6. According to Click2Houston, the students were taken into custody on Friday. The incident happened on October 27. The victim, identified as Jeremy Williams of Manvel, was shot and later died at a hospital.
Law enforcement, in collaboration with Fort Bend ISD Police and the Texas Rangers, identified four suspects in a robbery that resulted in Williams’ death. Missouri City police said the suspects were arrested without incident at their schools. KHOU reported that Williams had a small child in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, and the child was not harmed.
All suspects were students at Travis High School in Fort Bend ISD, including one juvenile. The school was briefly placed on a “Secure Hold” while officers made the arrests, and police said, "During the arrest operation, there was no danger to any student or teacher,” as per Click2Houston. Missouri City police arrested 18-year-old Jordan Dao, who had first been detained on a weapons charge and later rearrested on a murder charge, along with 17-year-olds Zaphaniah Collier and Chris Williams, and one unnamed juvenile. The procedure brought students and staff inside, secured exterior doors, and limited entry and exit until the all-clear was given. Police did not release additional details, and Fort Bend ISD has not yet issued a statement.
