In a scene reminiscent of what one might dub an unhurried chase, Galt Police officers found themselves in pursuit of a driver who appeared reluctant to adhere to a basic traffic stop's demands. The events unfolded on Tuesday evening, when a routine attempt to pull over a motorist for a traffic violation escalated into a low-speed pursuit.
According to the Galt Police Department's Facebook page, the driver, Galt resident Andres Sandoval, age 31, did not yield to the officers' signals, prompting the slow-speed chase. The proceedings concluded without incident as Sandoval's vehicle was safely stopped shortly after.
Culminating in the arrest of two individuals, the incident took a more severe turn beyond mere traffic violations. Sandoval was taken into custody for the act of evading officers and for infractions related to a probation violation. His passenger, 41-year-old Javier Navarro, also from Galt, was arrested after the discovery of 16.7 grams of methamphetamine and a digital scale present in the vehicle, indicative of intent to distribute narcotics. The fate of the two men was sealed with their booking at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
