Galveston police arrested 88-year-old Ernest Leal on murder charges after his wife, Anita Leal, was found dead from a gunshot wound in their home. Emergency responders were called to the house around 4:45 a.m. on Monday, and Ernest Leal reportedly admitted to the shooting, according to Click2Houston.
Authorities confirmed that Ernest Leal was taken into custody after paramedics responded to a medical alert. First responders went to the scene for a medical emergency but found Anita Leal’s body. Police were notified, and Mr. Leal is now under investigation.
A couple living in the 3200 block of Dominique, southeast of Scholes International Airport, was involved in a shooting, as reported by ABC13. The motives and circumstances are under investigation, and no official statement has been released. Mr. Leal is charged, with bond set at $250,000, and is awaiting court proceedings.
