A man from Gambrills has been handed down a 20-year sentence for the second-degree rape of a young girl. According to FOX Baltimore, 36-year-old Christopher McGee received the maximum penalty allowed by law today for his crimes against a 12-year-old victim. Along with his prison sentence, he is required to permanently register as a Tier III sex offender.

The investigation, initiated by the Anne Arundel County Police Department in December 2023, revealed that McGee used manipulative tactics to convince a child to enter into a relationship with him. WMAR 2 News reported that physical evidence was collected, including a photograph of McGee kissing the girl and explicit social media messages. Furthermore, authorities discovered a nude photo of McGee in the possession of the young girl.

The heinous nature of McGee's actions drew comments from the State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess, who stated, "This young survivor showed tremendous courage, and the evidence made unmistakably clear that McGee posed a serious and ongoing threat to children," as noted by FOX Baltimore.

During the trial, the prosecutors brought forward a witness who had also been sexually abused by McGee when she was only 12, back in 2011. According to WMAR 2 News, this earlier abuse took place in Texas while McGee was serving with the U.S. military. This prior conviction led to a seven-year prison term for aggravated sexual abuse of a minor and sodomy, and resulted in McGee being dishonorably discharged from the military services.
