
Community leaders and local heroes were spotlighted at the recent Garland Neighborhood Awards, held on Thursday at Lakewood Brewing Company. According to the City of Garland's announcement, awards were presented in several categories to recognize individuals and organizations that foster a sense of community within the city's neighborhoods.
The prestigious Who's Who in Garland Neighborhoods award found its 2025 recipient in Amy Nicholson from the Riverset neighborhood. Recognized for creating an inclusive and vibrant community, Nicholson's efforts embody the ideal neighborly spirit. On the heels of engagement, Camelot Neighborhood Association's "The Knightly News" won the Neighborhood Newsletter Award, recognized for keeping its neighbors informed not just around Arapaho and Jupiter roads, but also enveloping them in the fabric of the community.
In a salute to public service, the Garland Police Department's Officer Jordan Murphy was honored with the Garland Public Servant Award. His commitment to serving residents has established trust and fortified the foundation of safety in Garland's neighborhoods.
