The Garland Parks & Recreation Department recently scooped up three sizable accolades at the TRAPS North Region Conference, confirming what locals have long known: Garland dishes out some top-tier park experiences and community services. On the slate of honorees was the Holford Recreation Center & Aquatic Facility, grabbing the Recreation Facility Design Award for its spiffy architecture and user-friendly spaces.
Not to be overshadowed, the newly minted Lottie Watson Park nabbed the Park Design Excellence Award, hailed for its aesthetics and the way it beckons to families and fitness enthusiasts alike, according to an announcement from the City of Garland. Adding a human touch to the hardware, Caitlyn Godfrey of Volunteer Garland stood out among her peers to clinch Part-Time Employee of the Year with her commitment that's as unwavering as Texas heat in July.
The triple win from the Texas Recreation and Park Society isn't just a feather in Garland's cap; it's a testament to a department that clearly isn't resting on its laurels, driving forward innovative and community-fostering projects.
